In reply to Jim Manley. Thank you Jim, I also recall the wives of the pilots immediately forgiving the Aucas who perpetrated the killings. They asked God to forgive them, because they did not understand what they had done. Sound familiar?

In reply to E. Terry Jaramillo. Terry, I didn't learn of that incident until I was preparing for MAF service. A few months later I found myself amidst the attackers, in their clearings (villages), walking the same ground, touching the same water, shaking the same hands. Brought a new understanding of God's forgiveness. Amazing how He grants each of us unforgettable experiences with the same incident.

I remember back in the mid-1950s when we lived in Quito, where my father served at HCJB radio station, learning of the deaths of Nate Saint and other MAF pilots at the hands of the Auca indians. I never forgot that experience.
