The MAF adopt-a-plane HH-LLS in Haiti feels like a responsible parent sometimes—and lately, a distraught parent. Her heart is breaking due to some recent flights.

It’s not uncommon to receive a medical evacuation request to bring a little one to a hospital in Port-au-Prince for emergency treatment. But more often than not, when MAF gets the call, the child is in pretty dire straits, like tiny Ketia.

A wisp of a baby, Ketia was born with a congenital heart defect. After a prolonged illness, she became severely malnourished and anemic. When missionaries in Jeremie learned about her condition, they immediately began making plans to get her to the most advanced hospital in the area.

That’s when MAF was called, and HH-LLS went into action. The little Cessna 207 carefully transported frail little Ketia to Port-au-Prince where she was admitted to the hospital. Prayer warriors and supporters rallied and raised funds for her care. She began to stabilize and there was a glimmer of hope.

Sadly, a few days later, Ketia passed from this world into God’s loving arms, where she is free from pain. The MAF Haiti team is heartbroken, along with the others who loved this sweet baby during her short time on earth.

Flights like this one can be hard on the pilots. They do their job and hope and pray. As the pilot who conducted Ketia’s flight explains, “While I love being able to bring a lifeline to people, my purpose for being here is to share the light and love of Christ—even when my heart is broken.”

As hard as she might try, not all of HH-LLS’s flights are going to have a happy ending. But at least she can makes it possible for young and old alike to have a chance at life, and to experience the love of Christ in action.

Consider making HH-LLS part of your family today. You can adopt this airplane through a one-time or monthly recurring gift and play a vital part in ministering to the people of Haiti.

Haiti-MAF-Cessna-207-HH-MAF-JulyTwo years ago Pastor Rochelin was accompanying two of his children to school via motorcycle taxi in the town of Les Cayes, Haiti, when they were hit by a large truck that had lost its brakes. They all sustained head injuries and broken bones. The children were treated at a local clinic; but Pastor Rochelin’s injuries were critical and he needed more extensive treatment in the capital city of Port-au-Prince.

The call came in to MAF early that morning requesting an emergency flight for the injured pastor. Soon Cessna 207 HH-LLS was airborne, and 45 minutes later she arrived in Les Cayes to retrieve the pastor.

Once LLS arrived back in Port-au-Prince, MAF staff carefully unloaded Pastor Rochelin and carried him through the terminal to the ambulance, where he was whisked away to the hospital.

“Without MAF, the 45 minute flight would have been hours of grueling travel by road—a trip that Pastor Rochelin would most likely not have survived,” said MAF pilot Will White.

Almost two years to the day, a former MAF volunteer bumped into Pastor Rochelin in Les Cayes.

He told her that he never stops praying for the team who helped him. He asked for prayers for continued healing and for his congregation, the Evangelical First Christian Church in Chantel.

Because of HH-LLS and its faithful supporters, this flight and many others like it were made possible.

Please pray for continued healing for Pastor Rochelin, and for the other passengers, and the pilots who fly HH-LLS.

After a recent engine change, the Cessna 207 HH-LLS was ready and raring to go. She helped make it possible for a team from Coastline Calvary Chapel of Gulf Breeze, Florida, in partnership with Crossworld, to “Love on Haiti” during a weeklong outreach to the children of Northwestern Haiti.

Long-time Crossworld missionaries Bruce and Deb Robinson support Haitian-run churches and the people in this area in any way they can—building churches and schools, and doing drinking water and irrigation projects in one of the poorest parts of Haiti. The couple organized the outreach with the local churches and arranged the facilities.

HH-LLS was one of the MAF planes that helped transport some of the Calvary Chapel teammates and their cargo to avoid an exhausting full day of travel over rough, sometimes dangerous, roads.

“You can spend all day on a bus to get to us, but the roads are rough enough that it will beat your body up pretty good,” Bruce explained. “And if there is a breakdown or a roadblock, well, you will eventually get there, but it will take a long time.”

The people living in the areas where the outreaches are held have been struggling lately due to drought … and hunger. “All the activities for the children are a big deal and they get breakfast and lunch also, which helps a lot, at least for the three days that camp is held,” said Bruce. “You can see the joy on the children’s faces.”

Each child received a backpack with school supplies, toiletries, and a t-shirt. And most importantly, they learned about Jesus. This year, over 30 children came to know Him as their Savior!

This makes HH-LLS especially happy to know her flights made a difference. And your adoption of this plane helped make it all possible. Thank you for supporting this little Cessna and for making a difference in the lives of Haitian children. Heaven will be fuller because of you.

Please continue to pray for the pilots of HH-LLS, its passengers, and the many partners it serves, like the Robinsons.

*HH-LLS is currently taking over ‘s duties in Haiti while HH-MAF is spending some time at headquarters in Nampa getting a prolonged spa treatment (i.e. getting maintenance work done.) We will keep you updated with how HH-LLS is serving in Haiti until HH-MAF is able to get back to doing what she does best: Reaching isolated people in Haiti with Christ’s love!
